“Unrighteousness does not depend on an immediate occasion to bear fruit; it does not let go of the doer. When the proper time arrives, that very doer inevitably meets with (and must undergo) the consequence of that sin.”
पराशर उवाच
Adharma clings to its agent and yields its result inevitably; even if the consequence is delayed, time ripens the fruit of wrongdoing, and the doer must face it.
Parāśara is instructing the listener in Shānti Parva on ethical causality: wrongful acts are not nullified by delay or lack of immediate punishment; the moral result follows the perpetrator until the right time for fruition.
