Yoga Definition and Sāṃkhya Enumeration

अपूर्विणा न कर्तव्यं कर्म लोके विगर्लहितम्‌ । कृतपूर्व तु त्यजतो महान्‌ धर्म इति श्रुति:

Transliteration

apūrviṇā na kartavyaṃ karma loke vigarhitam | kṛtapūrvaṃ tu tyajato mahān dharma iti śrutiḥ ||

Translation

Parāśara said: “One should not commit, for the first time, an act that is condemned in the world. But if someone has done such a deed before, then to renounce it thereafter is declared by sacred tradition to be a great act of dharma.”
