Shloka 40

नारद–असित (देवल) संवादः — भूतप्रभवाप्यय, इन्द्रिय-गुण-विवेक, क्षेत्रज्ञ-तत्त्व

नायं लोको>स्त्ययज्ञानां परश्रेति विनिश्चय: । वेदवादविदश्नैव प्रमाणमु भयं तदा

This is the settled conclusion: for those who do not perform sacrifices, neither this world is a source of well-being nor is the next world (heaven). Those who know the Vedic teaching accept both paths as authoritative—pravṛtti (the way of engaged action) and nivṛtti (the way of withdrawal and renunciation).
