एवं विमृशतस्तस्य चिरकारितया बहु । दीर्घ:कालो व्यतिक्रान्तस्ततो<5स्याभ्यागमत् पिता
evaṁ vimṛśatas tasya cirakāritayā bahu | dīrghaḥ kālo vyatikrāntas tato 'syābhyāgamat pitā ||
Bhishma said: “As he kept reflecting in this way, owing to his habit of delaying action, a long time passed. Meanwhile, his father returned from the forest.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights how excessive delay—even when framed as careful deliberation—can allow circumstances to change and force a moral decision into a new context; discernment must be balanced with timely action.
Cirakari continues thinking for a long time due to his delaying nature, and during this interval his father returns, shifting the situation and setting up the next ethical development in the episode.
