Ātma-saṃyama-dharma: One-pointedness of Mind and Senses (शुक–व्यास संवादः)
ब्रह्म॑स्तदपि कर्तास्मि यद् भवान् वक्ष्यते पुन: । इति सर्वमनुज्ञाप्य निवेद्य च यथाविधि
brahmāstada pi kartāsmi yad bhavān vakṣyate punaḥ | iti sarvam anu jñāpya nivedya ca yathāvidhi
Vyāsa said: “I too shall be the one to carry out that sacred act, whatever you may again declare. Having thus sought full permission and, in due form, submitted the matter, he proceeded accordingly.”
व्यास उवाच
The verse emphasizes disciplined conduct: even when acting with spiritual intent, one should proceed with proper authorization, respectful submission, and adherence to prescribed procedure (yathāvidhi).
Vyāsa speaks of undertaking a sacred task in accordance with what the addressed person will declare, and notes that the matter is first formally presented and permission obtained before proceeding.
