Adhyātma Taxonomy: Elements, Faculties, and Guṇas

Vyāsa said: When the inner self (the indwelling spirit) comes to see the Self present in all beings, and all beings present within the Self, then that knower—whose awareness has become universal—attains Brahman. The ethical force of this vision is the dissolution of separateness: harm, hatred, and pride lose their basis when one recognizes the same reality in every creature.

Educational Q&A

Liberation arises from direct realization of non-separateness: seeing the same Self in all beings and all beings in the Self. This vision culminates in attaining Brahman and grounds an ethic of non-harm and universal regard.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on peace and liberation, Vyāsa states a contemplative criterion for spiritual fulfillment: when one’s perception shifts from division to the all-pervading Self, one reaches Brahman.
