Adhyāya 178 — The courses of prāṇa-vāyu and the regulation of the bodily fire

ह्ियमाणोौ तु तौ दम्यौ तेनोष्टेण प्रमाथिना । ग्रियमाणौ च सम्प्रेक्ष्य मड्किस्तत्राब्रवीदिदम्,बलपूर्वक अपहरण करनेवाले उस ऊँटके द्वारा उन दोनों बछड़ोंको अपहृत होते और मरते देख मड़किने इस प्रकार कहा--
Transliteration
hriyamāṇau tu tau damyau tenoṣṭreṇa pramāthinā | griyamāṇau ca samprekṣya maḍkistatrābravīd idam ||
Translation
Bhishma said: As those two young calves were being forcibly carried off by that violent camel, and as Maḍki looked on at them being dragged away and perishing, he spoke these words there—moved by the moral shock of helpless suffering and wrongful seizure.
