अध्याय १७८ — प्राणवायुगतिः तथा शारीराग्निव्यवस्था
Adhyāya 178 — The courses of prāṇa-vāyu and the regulation of the bodily fire
पाताल इव दुष्पूरो मां दुःखैय्योक्तुमिच्छसि । नाहमद्य समावेष्ठूं शक्य: काम पुनस्त्वया
pātāla iva duṣpūro māṃ duḥkhair yoktum icchasi | nāham adya samāveṣṭuṃ śakyaḥ kāma punas tvayā ||
Bhishma said: “O Desire, you are like the netherworld—hard to fill and hard to satisfy. You wish to bind me with sufferings; but today you cannot enter into me again.”
भीष्म उवाच
Desire (kāma) is a source of bondage and suffering; when one becomes steadfast in restraint and discernment, desire can no longer ‘enter’ and dominate the mind.
Bhishma addresses Kāma directly as a defeated adversary, declaring that Kāma’s attempt to bind him with suffering will no longer succeed—signaling a state of inner victory and detachment.
