अध्याय १७८ — प्राणवायुगतिः तथा शारीराग्निव्यवस्था
Adhyāya 178 — The courses of prāṇa-vāyu and the regulation of the bodily fire
विहरिष्याम्यनासक्त: सुखी लोकान् निरामय: । यया मां त्वं पुनर्नैंवं दुःखेषु प्रणिधास्यसि,“मैं अपने शरीरमें मनके अंदर सम्पूर्ण भूतोंको देखता हुआ बुद्धिको योगमें, एकाग्रचितको श्रवण-मनन आदि साधनोंमें और मनको परब्रह्म परमात्मामें लगाकर रोग- शोकसे रहित एवं सुखी हो सम्पूर्ण लोकोंमें अनासक्त भावसे विचरूँगा, जिससे तू फिर मुझे इस प्रकार दुःखोंमें न डाल सकेगा
viharīṣyāmy anāsaktaḥ sukhī lokān nirāmayaḥ | yayā māṃ tvaṃ punar naivaṃ duḥkheṣu praṇidhāsyasi ||
Bhishma said: “I shall move through the worlds unattached, happy and free from affliction—by that means you will not again cast me into sufferings in this manner.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse emphasizes anāsakti (non-attachment) as a safeguard against recurring duḥkha (suffering): by living unattached and inwardly free, one is no longer driven back into the same patterns of pain.
Bhishma, speaking in the Shanti Parva’s instruction-setting, declares his resolve to move through existence without attachment and without affliction, indicating a spiritual stance that prevents being thrown again into suffering.
