Adhyāya 174: Karma as an inescapable companion (कर्मानुगमन-उपदेश)

प्रत्येक मनुष्यको सदा कृतज्ञ होना चाहिये और मित्रकी इच्छा रखनी चाहिये; क्योंकि मित्रसे सब कुछ प्राप्त होता है। मित्रके सहयोगसे सदा सम्मानकी प्राप्ति होती है ।।
Translation
One should always be grateful and desire friendship; for through a friend all things are obtained. From a friend one may enjoy one’s share of pleasures, and by a friend one is delivered in times of distress. Therefore, the discerning should honor an excellent friend with the finest courtesies and respectful hospitality.
