निर्वेदोपदेशः (Nirveda-Upadeśa) — Maṅki’s Dispassion and the Limits of Wealth-Seeking
त॑ काश्यपो<ब्रवीत् प्रीतो नोत्कण्ठां कर्तुमहसि । कृतकार्यो द्विजश्रेष्ठ सद्रव्यो यास्यसे गृहान्
taṁ kāśyapo 'bravīt prīto notkaṇṭhāṁ kartum arhasi | kṛtakāryo dvijaśreṣṭha sadravyo yāsyase gṛhān |
Hearing this, Kāśyapa, well pleased, said: “O best of the twice-born, you need not be eager to go so far. Your purpose will be accomplished right here. Take wealth from here and return to your home, your task fulfilled.”
भीष्म उवाच
Do not be driven by restless eagerness when the goal can be fulfilled without needless striving; once the purpose is achieved, one should return satisfied, carrying only what is rightly obtained.
Kāśyapa, pleased, reassures a brāhmaṇa addressed as ‘best of the twice-born’ that he need not proceed further; his objective will be met on the spot, and he may go home with wealth, his task completed.
