The Instruction on Non-ownership and Renunciation
तमागतं खगं दृष्टवा गौतमो विस्मितो5भवत् । क्षुत्पिपासापरिश्रान्तो हिंसार्थी चाभ्यवैक्षत
Seeing that bird arrive, Gautama was struck with wonder. At that time he was hungry and thirsty, and utterly worn out by the journey; therefore he looked upon it with the intent to kill it for food.
