अनिरवेदेन दीर्घेण निश्चयेन ध्रुवेण च
aniravedenā dīrgheṇa niścayena dhruveṇa ca
Bhīṣma said: “With unwearied perseverance over a long course of time, and with firm, unwavering resolve.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse emphasizes that success in dharmic aims is supported by sustained effort without discouragement, guided by firm determination and unwavering steadiness.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma continues instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and right conduct; here he highlights the inner qualities—long perseverance, decisive resolve, and steadiness—needed to carry out righteous duties.
