शकुनि (हिरण्मय-पक्षी) उपदेशः — Vighasāśin and the Difficulty of Gārhasthya
अर्जुन उवाच ततस्ते तद् वच: श्रुत्वा धर्मार्थसहितं हितम् । उत्सृज्य नास्तीति गता गार्हस्थ्यं समुपाश्रिता:
arjuna uvāca tataste tad vacaḥ śrutvā dharmārthasahitaṃ hitam | utsṛjya nāstīti gatā gārhasthyaṃ samupāśritāḥ ||
Arjuna said: “Then, having heard those beneficial words—grounded in dharma and artha—they abandoned the thought ‘there is nothing’ and returned, taking refuge in the householder’s way of life.”

Beneficial counsel aligned with dharma and artha can correct a misguided, dismissive attitude (“nāsti iti”) and redirect one toward a constructive, socially responsible path—here, the disciplined practice of gārhasthya (householder duty).
After hearing wholesome instruction that integrates righteousness (dharma) with practical well-being (artha), the persons described give up their earlier negative conclusion and return to adopt the householder mode of life.
