शकुनि (हिरण्मय-पक्षी) उपदेशः — Vighasāśin and the Difficulty of Gārhasthya

Those who live as vighasāśins—eating only what remains after duly distributing food—attain the unassailable state. Morning and evening, having apportioned food within their household according to proper rule, they progress to that hard-to-conquer goal, for their life is ordered by duty: first honoring gods, ancestors, guests, and dependents, and only then taking what is left for themselves.

A householder should distribute food properly—honoring gods, ancestors, guests, and dependents first—and eat only the remainder; such disciplined, other-first conduct leads toward an unconquerable spiritual goal.
Arjuna states a dharma teaching: those called vighasāśins, who follow the rule of morning-and-evening distribution of food in the household and eat last, are said to attain a secure, hard-to-overcome state.
