Ānṛśaṃsya, Amātya-Guṇa, and Reconciliatory Counsel (आनृशंस्य–अमात्यगुण–संधि-उपदेशः)
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्ाभारत शान्तिपर्वके अन्तर्गत राजधमनुशासनपर्वमें कालकवृक्षीय गुनिका उपदेशविषयक एक सौ पाँचवाँ अध्याय पूरा हआ ॥/ १०५ ॥। अपना छा | अप्--#कू+ - जैसे कुत्ते बहुत जागते हैं
rājovāca | na nikṛtyā na dambhena brāhmann icchāmi jīvitum | nādharmayuktān iccheyam arthān sumahato 'py aham ||
The king said: “O Brāhmaṇa, I do not wish to live by resorting to deceit or hypocrisy. Even if immense wealth were to come to me through association with adharma, I would not desire such gains.”
भीष्म उवाच
A ruler should not preserve life or seek prosperity through deceit, hypocrisy, or any gain tied to adharma; moral integrity is valued above even immense wealth.
Within Bhīṣma’s larger instruction on dharma, a king speaks to a Brāhmaṇa, declaring his refusal to live by trickery or to accept great riches if they require unrighteous means.
