Indratīrtha–Ādityatīrtha: Balarāma’s Ritual Bathing, Dāna, and Sacred-Historical Recollections
तपसोग्रेण तं लब्ध्वा तेन रेमे सहाच्युत । प्रजानाथ! पावन सुगंधसे युक्त पवित्र वायु चलने लगी। शुभलक्षणा श्रुतावती अपने शरीरको त्यागकर इन्द्रकी भार्या हो गयी। अच्युत! वह अपनी उग्र तपस्यासे इन्द्रको पाकर उनके साथ रमण करने लगी ।।
janamejaya uvāca |
kasya bhagavan mātā kva saṁvṛddhā ca śobhanā |
śrotum icchāmy ahaṁ vipra paraṁ kautūhalaṁ hi me ||
Having obtained him through fierce austerities, she rejoiced with him. O lord of men, a holy wind, laden with purifying fragrance, began to blow. Śrutāvatī, marked with auspicious signs, cast off her body and became Indra’s wife. O Acyuta, by the power of her stern tapas she won Indra and delighted in his company. — Then Janamejaya asked: “Revered sir, who was her mother, and where did that beautiful woman grow up? O brāhmaṇa, I wish to hear it, for my curiosity is great.”
