Vaiśampāyana said: “Hear now the names of those other warriors as well—men equipped with many kinds of weapons and arms, and adorned with splendid, varied ornaments.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes the epic narrator’s careful accounting of the forces in war: external splendor—arms and ornaments—signals preparedness and status, yet it also foreshadows how such worldly display is ultimately subjected to the moral and tragic consequences of battle.
Vaiśampāyana transitions into naming additional warriors, describing them collectively as well-armed and richly adorned, preparing the listener for a catalogue-style enumeration of participants in the conflict.
