Saptasārasvata-tīrtha-prasaṅgaḥ | The Saptasārasvata Pilgrimage Account and the Maṅkaṇaka Narrative
तत्र दत्त्वा हलधरो विप्रेभ्यो विविधं वसु
tatra dattvā haladharo viprebhyo vividhaṃ vasu, prayayau sahito vipraiḥ stūyamānaś ca mādhavaḥ |
There, Haladhara (Balarāma), having bestowed upon the brāhmaṇas wealth of many kinds, set out from that place accompanied by those brāhmaṇas, while Mādhava was being praised. The scene upholds the duty of honoring learned guests with generous gifts and hospitality, and shows Balarāma departing amid the blessings and laudations of the satisfied brāhmaṇas.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma through dāna and atithi-satkara: honoring brāhmaṇas/learned guests with generous gifts and respectful hospitality, leading to social harmony and blessings expressed as praise.
Balarāma (Haladhara) gives various kinds of wealth to the brāhmaṇas and then departs together with them; along the way, Mādhava is being praised, indicating a devotional and auspicious atmosphere surrounding the departure.
