Dvaipāyana-hrade Duryodhanasya Māyā — Yudhiṣṭhirasya Dharmoktiḥ (Śalya-parva, Adhyāya 30)
आगम्य तु ततः सर्वे नष्ट दुर्योधनं नृपम् । न्यवेदयन्त सहिता धर्मराजस्य सैनिका:,धर्मराजके उन सभी गुप्तचर सैनिकोंने एक साथ लौटकर यह निवेदन किया कि “राजा दुर्योधन लापता हो गया है”
āgamya tu tataḥ sarve naṣṭaṃ duryodhanaṃ nṛpam | nyavedayanta sahitā dharmarājasya sainikāḥ ||
Sañjaya said: Then all of them returned and, acting together, reported to Dharmarāja’s forces that King Duryodhana had disappeared. The message carries the moral weight of accountability in war: even amid chaos, duty requires truthful reconnaissance and prompt reporting to rightful authority.
संजय उवाच
Even in warfare, dharma expresses itself as disciplined responsibility: those tasked with observation must report facts accurately and promptly to legitimate leadership, without distortion or concealment.
After searching, the group returns and collectively informs Yudhiṣṭhira’s side that Duryodhana cannot be found—he has gone missing—setting up the next actions to locate him.
