द्वैपायनह्रदे दुर्योधनान्वेषणम् / The Search for Duryodhana at Dvaipāyana Lake
“उन सबकी ऐसी अवस्था हो गयी है, जैसी पहले कभी नहीं देखी गयी। सभी दुःखसे आतुर हैं और सबके नेत्र भयसे व्याकुल हो उठे हैं। सभी लोग भयभीत मृगोंके समान दसों दिशाओंकी ओर देख रहे हैं। दुर्योधनके मन्त्रियोंमेसे जो कोई बच गये हैं, वे राजमहिलाओंको साथ लेकर नगरकी ओर जा रहे हैं ।।
sañjaya uvāca |
prāptakālam ahaṃ manye praveśaṃ taiḥ saha prabhum |
yudhiṣṭhiram anujñāya vāsudevaṃ tathaiva ca ||
Sañjaya said: “I deem it timely and proper that I enter the city together with those surviving ministers, but only after obtaining the permission of King Yudhiṣṭhira and likewise of Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa).”
संजय उवाच
Even after decisive victory, one should act with restraint and legitimacy—seeking the consent of rightful authority (Yudhiṣṭhira) and wise counsel (Vāsudeva) before taking consequential steps like entering and occupying the capital.
In the aftermath of devastation and panic, with Duryodhana’s circle shattered, Sañjaya expresses that it is now appropriate to enter the city along with the surviving ministers, but only after receiving permission from Yudhiṣṭhira and Kṛṣṇa.
