Even amid violent conflict, the verse highlights a recognizable dharmic impulse: filial responsibility. Ulūka’s action is framed not merely as aggression but as an attempt to protect his father, showing how personal duties and loyalties operate within the larger ethics of war.
Sanjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Ulūka, fighting on the battlefield, shoots Bhīma with seven arrows and Sahadeva with seventy, doing so with the intention of safeguarding his father during the combat.
