Sañjaya said: “O Bhārata, thus the battle with them, in his case, became wondrous and extraordinary.” The line underscores how war, though rooted in violence, can appear ‘marvelous’ in narration when marked by astonishing feats—inviting reflection on the tension between heroic spectacle and the grim ethical weight of slaughter.

The verse highlights how the same event—war—can be framed as ‘marvelous’ due to extraordinary prowess and dramatic turns, even while it remains ethically grave. It prompts readers to notice the narrative allure of heroism and to weigh it against the dharmic cost of violence.
Sañjaya, reporting to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, summarizes that the fighting involving ‘him’ and ‘them’ unfolded in an astonishing manner—serving as a transition or emphasis after describing striking combat episodes.
