Unrestrained Battle Description and Śakuni’s Rear Assault
योधयन्तावपश्येतां कृतप्रतिकृतैषिणौ । वे दोनों वीर महारथी उत्तम कुलमें उत्पन्न हुए थे! अतः समरांगणमें एक-दूसरेके प्रहारका प्रतीकार करनेकी इच्छा रखकर जूझते दिखायी देते थे
yodhayantāv apaśyetāṃ kṛta-pratikṛtaiṣiṇau |
Sañjaya said: As they fought, they were seen as two warriors intent on requiting blow with counterblow—each seeking a fitting response to what had been done. Born of noble lineage and trained as great chariot-warriors, they strove in the battlefield with the resolve to meet the other’s strike with an answering act, embodying the harsh reciprocity that governs combat when honor and retaliation become the immediate code of conduct.
