Aśvatthāmā’s Stuti of Rudra and Śiva’s Empowerment (सौप्तिकपर्व, अध्याय ७)
नित्यानन्दप्रमुदिता वागीशा वीतमत्सरा: । प्राप्याष्टगुणमैश्वर्य ये न यास्यन्ति वै स्मयम्
nityānandapramuditā vāgīśā vītamatsarāḥ | prāpyāṣṭaguṇamaiśvaryaṃ ye na yāsyanti vai smayam ||
Sañjaya said: Ever rejoicing in constant bliss, masters of speech and free from envy, they—though attaining the eightfold lordly powers—would never fall into pride or self-conceit.
