कृपोपदेशः — द्रौणेरनिद्रा च
Kṛpa’s Counsel and Drauṇi’s Sleepless Resolve

Kṛpa said: “You yourself witnessed how those sinful men—above all—slew my father. That sight pierces my most vital depths. In such a state, how could a warrior like me remain alive in this world even for a moment?”
कृप उवाच
The verse foregrounds how personal grief and the memory of injustice can drive a warrior toward retaliatory resolve; it also implicitly warns that labeling opponents as “sinful” can intensify vengeance and eclipse calmer ethical discernment.
In the Sauptika Parva, Kṛpa speaks to his companions, recalling the killing of his father by the opposing side; the recollection wounds him deeply and he argues that, as a warrior, he cannot bear to live without answering that wrong.
