Daiva–Puruṣakāra Saṃvāda
Kṛpa’s Counsel on Destiny and Human Effort
असमर्थ्य समारब्धो मूढत्वादविचिन्तित: । हितबुद्धीननादृत्य सम्मन्त्रयासाधुभि: सह
asamarthya samārabdho mūḍhatvād avicintitaḥ | hitabuddhīn anādṛtya sammantrayāsādhubhiḥ saha
Kṛpa said: “Lacking the capacity to carry it through, you nevertheless began this undertaking—out of delusion and without due reflection. Disregarding those of sound counsel, you took advice together with the wicked.”
कृप उवाच
One should not begin grave actions without capacity and careful deliberation; ignoring well-wishers and consulting the wicked leads to unethical, self-destructive outcomes.
Kṛpa rebukes a listener (implicitly a Kaurava ally) for rashly initiating an act beyond his competence, done in delusion, after rejecting prudent advisers and instead taking counsel with immoral companions.
