अध्याय १ — न्यग्रोधवनोपवेशनम् तथा द्रौणिनिश्चयः
Night at the Banyan and Drauṇi’s Resolve
'पांचालयोद्धा हर्षमें भरकर सिंहनाद करते, हल्ला मचाते, हँसते, सैकड़ों शंख बजाते और डंके पीटते हैं ।।
vāditraghoṣas tumulo vimiśraḥ śaṅkhaniḥsvanaiḥ | anilenāritaḥ ghoro diśaḥ pūrayatīva ha ||
Sañjaya said: The Panchāla warriors, filled with exultation, roared like lions, raised a clamor, laughed, blew conches by the hundreds, and beat the drums. A tumultuous, blended roar—many instruments mingled with the blare of conches—deep and fearsome, driven by the wind, seemed to fill all the directions.
