वैशम्पायन उवाच तत्र माहिष्मतीवासी भगवान्‌ हव्यवाहन: । श्रूयते हि गृहीतो वै पुरस्तात्‌ पारदारिक:

Vaiśampāyana said: “It is heard that the blessed Havyavāhana, the Fire-god who dwelt in the city of Māhiṣmatī, once became enamored of Sudarśanā, the daughter of King Nīla.”
