Educational Q&A

As a colophon, the verse does not teach through direct instruction; it frames the preceding narrative within the dharmic-political ideal of digvijaya—conquest undertaken as part of establishing legitimate sovereignty and ordered rule, rather than mere personal aggression.

The speaker Vaiśampāyana signals the close of the chapter describing Arjuna’s northern campaign in the Digvijaya section of the Sabhā Parvan, marking the completion of that episode within the larger account of the Pāṇḍavas’ preparations for imperial rites and governance.
