Jarā’s Account and the Enthronement of Jarāsandha (जरासंधोत्पत्तिः अभिषेकश्च)
ततः सा राक्षसी राजन् विस्मयोत्फुल्ललोचना । न शशाक समुद्वोढुं वज़सारमयं शिशुम्
tataḥ sā rākṣasī rājan vismayotphullalocanā | na śaśāka samudvoḍhuṃ vajrasāramayaṃ śiśum |
Then that rākṣasī, O King, her eyes widened in astonishment, found herself unable to lift and carry the infant, for the child seemed to be made of the very essence of adamantine thunderbolt-strength.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Predatory strength and harmful intent can be rendered powerless when confronted by a higher, protective force; the vulnerable (here, an infant) may be safeguarded by an order that frustrates adharma.
A rākṣasī, astonished with eyes wide open, tries to lift and carry off an infant but cannot, because the child seems as hard and unmovable as something made of vajra—adamantine thunderbolt essence.
