Whose brother Ākṛti is a hero, equal in prowess to Jāmadagnya (Paraśurāma)—that Bhīṣmaka, the slayer of enemy-champions, is nevertheless a loyal adherent of Jarāsandha.
श्रीकृष्ण उवाच
Political loyalty and dependence can bind even powerful kings: personal valor and strong lineage do not prevent a ruler from aligning with a dominant overlord. The verse highlights how devotion/partisanship (bhakti) in a political sense shapes the balance of power.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa is describing the network of rulers connected to Jarāsandha. He notes that Bhīṣmaka—renowned for killing enemy champions and having a brother as mighty as Paraśurāma—still stands as a loyal adherent of Jarāsandha, illustrating Jarāsandha’s wide influence.
