Narada said: “Śaṅkha and Padma—foremost among the treasures and themselves lords of wealth—gathering all the other nidhis, continually worship Kubera, the sovereign of riches.”
नारद उवाच
Even powers associated with wealth are portrayed as subordinate to a higher lord of wealth; prosperity is framed within a hierarchy and sustained by reverence and orderly service rather than mere possession.
Nārada describes Kubera’s retinue: the chief treasure-personifications, Śaṅkha and Padma, assemble the other nidhis and worship/attend upon Kubera, emphasizing Kubera’s sovereignty over riches.
