Shloka 71

“तारकामय संग्राममें ब्रह्माजीने इन्द्रके शरीरमें जिस प्रकार दिव्य कवच बाँधा था, उसी प्रकार मैं भी तुम्हारे शरीरमें बाँध रहा हूँ

tārakāmaye saṅgrāme brahmājīne indrasya śarīre yathā divyaṃ kavacaṃ baddhvā, tathā aham api tava śarīre badhnāmi.

Sanjaya said: “Just as, in the Tārakāmaya war, Brahmā fastened a divine armour upon Indra’s body, so too do I now fasten such protection upon your body.”

Educational Q&A

The verse frames protection in war as legitimate when grounded in righteous precedent: invoking a divine example (Brahmā protecting Indra) to justify safeguarding a warrior’s body, emphasizing duty-bound preservation rather than reckless violence.

Sanjaya speaks of fastening a ‘divine armor’ on the listener’s body, comparing his act to Brahmā’s arming of Indra during the Tārakāmaya conflict—an assurance of protection amid the dangers of the Kurukṣetra war.
