Sañjaya said: “O Krishna, you know well all that has befallen us—how our enemies brought about the ruin of our kingdom, subjected us to humiliation, and inflicted upon us many kinds of suffering.”
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores moral accountability in conflict: the devastation of rightful order (loss of kingdom), public humiliation, and inflicted suffering are not merely political events but ethical injuries. It also highlights Krishna’s role as one who fully understands the causes and consequences of injustice, making him a fitting guide for right action (dharma) amid war.
Sanjaya addresses Krishna, stating that Krishna already knows the full extent of the wrongs done by the enemy side—how they ruined the kingdom, dishonored the afflicted party, and caused many hardships. The statement functions as a preface to counsel or appeal, grounding the discussion in shared knowledge of past injuries.
