पुराणि दग्धवन्तं तं देवी याता प्रवीक्षितुम्
purāṇi dagdhavantaṃ taṃ devī yātā pravīkṣitum
Vyāsa said: The Goddess went to see him—who had burned up the ancient records—so as to examine the matter for herself.
व्यास उवाच
The verse highlights discernment and accountability: after a harmful or irreversible act (burning the ‘ancients’), a higher moral authority does not merely react but investigates directly, implying that judgment should be based on careful examination.
Vyāsa narrates that the Goddess goes to see a particular person—described as one who has burned the ancient materials—specifically in order to inspect and verify the situation herself.
