The verse underscores the moral gravity of war: even when fought by famed heroes, battle manifests as overwhelming destruction and terror. The epic’s ethical lens reminds the listener that martial prowess and righteous intent do not erase the human cost and the frightening momentum of violence once unleashed.
Sañjaya describes the battlefield soundscape: a massive, thunderbolt-like cracking roar rises, and a fierce engagement begins, associated with Bhīma’s forceful weapon-play and the general tumult of combat.
