Sañjaya said: In the midst of battle, that severed head fell to the earth, the lips clenched hard against the teeth—like a ripe palmyra fruit struck down by a mighty gale. The image declares the brutal inevitability of death in war: even the proud and steadfast are brought low by forces greater than themselves, and the battlefield reduces human will to a fleeting gesture before collapse.
