somadattorasi kruddhaḥ supatraṃ niśitaṃ yudhi |
Sañjaya said: Enraged in the thick of battle, Sātyaki struck Somadatta on the chest with a keen, well-feathered arrow, blazing like fire.
The verse highlights how anger (krodha) can drive decisive action in war; even within kṣatriya-dharma, wrath is a dangerous catalyst that intensifies violence and tests self-control.
Sañjaya narrates that, during the battle, Sātyaki—angered—shoots a sharp, well-feathered arrow into Somadatta’s chest, marking a forceful exchange between opposing warriors.
