द्रोणकर्णयोः निशि संप्रहारः — Night Engagement with Droṇa and Karṇa
"५५४ 407-#495 #॥ त॑ तथा विरथं दृष्टवा रथमारोप्य तं॑ तदा
taṁ tathā virathaṁ dṛṣṭvā ratham āropya taṁ tadā
Sañjaya said: Seeing him thus left without a chariot, they then lifted him up and placed him upon a chariot—an act that, amid the chaos of battle, reflects the urgent duty to preserve a warrior’s capacity to continue the fight and not abandon an ally in distress.
संजय उवाच
Even in war, one should not abandon a comrade in immediate vulnerability; restoring an ally’s means to act (here, placing him on a chariot) reflects responsibility and solidarity within one’s side.
Sañjaya narrates that someone is seen ‘viratha’ (without a chariot), and others promptly place him onto a chariot so he can rejoin the ongoing combat.
