miṣato bhīmasenasya sātvatasyā ca bhārata | rājan bharatanandana yuddhasthale karṇo bhīmasena-sātyakyoḥ paśyatoḥ śīghragamibhir bāṇair arjunaṃ purato gantum avārayat |
Sañjaya said: O Bhārata, O King, O joy of the Bharatas—right there on the battlefield, Karṇa, before the very eyes of Bhīmasena and Sātyaki, checked Arjuna’s advance with his swift-flying arrows.

The verse highlights the battlefield ethic that strength and skill have immediate moral and narrative consequences: a warrior’s excellence can protect allies and restrain opponents, and such deeds gain weight when performed openly before respected witnesses.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Karṇa, using swift arrows, prevents Arjuna from advancing, and this occurs in full view of Bhīma and Sātyaki—emphasizing both Karṇa’s effectiveness and the public nature of the contest.
