Chapter 136: Pandava Counter-Encirclement and the Vāyavya-Astra Disruption
vāyuputraḥ prahṛṣṭo 'bhūt sakkiṇī pariṃlihan | bharatanandana duryodhanakī yaha bāta sunkar durmukha baṛī utāvalī ke sātha karṇake samīpa ā pahū̃cā aur bhīmasenako apne bāṇoṃ dvārā rokā | saṃgrāmameṃ sūtaputrake caraṇoṃkā anusaraṇa karanevāle durmukhako dekhkar vāyuputra bhīmasena baṛe prasanna hue | ve apne donoṃ galaphar cāṭne lage | tataḥ karṇa mahārāja vārayitvā śilīmukhaiḥ ||
Sañjaya said: The son of Vāyu, Bhīma, was delighted and began to lick his lips. O descendant of Bharata, hearing Duryodhana’s words, Durmukha hurried to Karṇa’s side and checked Bhīmasena with his arrows. Seeing Durmukha—who in battle followed in the footsteps of the charioteer’s son (Karṇa)—the Vāyu-born Bhīma was greatly pleased and licked both corners of his mouth, as if eager for the fight. Then King Karṇa, having restrained the foe with sharp arrows, continued the engagement.
