Sanjaya said: O foremost of the Kuru line, the heroic Sātyaki, having overcome Drona and likewise your leading warriors headed by Kritavarman, smiled and spoke words to his charioteer.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical tension of war: prowess and victory can breed pride (signaled by Satyaki's smile), yet the narrative frame reminds the listener that triumph over great teachers and warriors still occurs within the larger moral burden of fratricidal conflict.
After defeating Drona and other prominent Kaurava champions led by Kritavarman, Satyaki turns to his charioteer and speaks—setting up the next action in which his words and intent will drive the immediate battlefield episode.
