ततः: परमसंक्रुद्धो ज्वलिताविव पावकौ
tataḥ parama-saṅkruddho jvalitāv iva pāvakau
Sañjaya said: Then, seized by extreme wrath, they blazed like two fires—anger flaring into a destructive force that drove the battle onward.
संजय उवाच
The verse uses the simile of fire to show how unchecked anger (krodha) rapidly intensifies and becomes destructive, overwhelming judgment and ethical restraint—an implicit warning that inner passions can fuel outer violence.
Sañjaya describes a turning point where the combatants (implied by the dual) become intensely enraged, their fury flaring like two fires, signaling an escalation in the ferocity of the battle.
