so ’haṁ bhāraṁ samādhāsye tvayi taṁ voḍhum arhasi | abhiprāyaṁ ca me nityaṁ na vṛthā kartum arhasi ||
Yudhiṣṭhira said: “Therefore I place this responsibility upon you; you must bear it and carry it through to the end. And you must always strive so that my intention is not made futile.”
A leader’s resolve must be translated into effective action through entrusted agents: accepting a charge (bhāra) entails faithfully carrying it out and ensuring the intended purpose (abhiprāya) is not wasted.
In the midst of the Drona Parva’s war setting, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses another party with authority, formally entrusting a task and insisting that his plan be executed successfully rather than allowed to fail.
