Sañjaya said: “In the thick of battle, the warriors of the Kauravas and the Pāṇḍavas surged forward from every side, rushing upon one another.”

The verse underscores the moral gravity of war: once hostilities fully erupt, collective duty, allegiance, and the force of circumstance drive people into mutual violence. It invites reflection on how dharma becomes contested in war—where action may be compelled by role and oath, yet remains ethically weighty.
Sañjaya reports that both armies—Kaurava and Pāṇḍava—charge at each other from all directions, signaling an intense phase of the Kurukṣetra battle where formations collapse into direct clashes.
