Sañjaya said: Vindā and Anuvindā, the princes of Avanti, charged swiftly against Irāvān. In the same surge of battle, Nakula and Sahadeva rushed upon their maternal uncle, Śalya, the king of Madra—showing how the war compels even close kin to meet as foes, each bound to his chosen allegiance and duty.

The verse highlights the harsh ethical tension of war: even relatives may confront one another when bound by kṣatriya duty and political allegiance, illustrating how dharma in battle can conflict with personal bonds.
Sañjaya reports simultaneous attacks: Vindā and Anuvindā of Avanti charge Irāvān, while Nakula and Sahadeva rush to strike their maternal uncle Śalya, the Madra king, amid the Kurukṣetra fighting.
