Bhishma said: “In the beginning of creation, the Supreme Lord brought forth the three elemental principles—water, wind, and fire. The sage Markandeya speaks of Govinda as Hari Himself, declaring that this Lord alone pervades all beings and is the inner Self of everyone. Having manifested these elements and all living creatures at the dawn of the world, the Lord—sovereign of all realms—then created the divine Earth and lay down upon the waters. That great-souled Purushottama, radiant with all splendor, entered yogic repose upon those primal waters.”
