Sañjaya said: “O Bhārata, longing for sunrise, the Pāṇḍavas stood ready for battle, fully armed and armored. Having arranged the great battle-formation called ‘Krauñcāruṇa,’ they waited for daybreak, poised to begin the fight. Above their elephants and chariots, large, spotless white parasols shone brilliantly, radiant like the sun.”

The passage highlights kṣatriya discipline: battle is approached with preparation, order, and attention to auspicious timing. The shining parasols symbolize royal legitimacy and morale, suggesting that outward order and inner resolve support the performance of duty in a grave ethical setting like war.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that the Pāṇḍavas have formed a major battle-array named Krauñcāruṇa and, fully armored, are waiting for sunrise to commence fighting. Their elephants and chariots are adorned with large, spotless white parasols gleaming like the sun.
