The verse highlights how war, once unleashed through adharma and political ambition, draws in many peoples beyond the principal rivals; ethical responsibility and suffering spread widely, reminding readers that collective violence has expansive, long-lasting consequences.
Sañjaya is listing notable warriors and allied groups present in the war context, as part of the description connected with battle-array (vyūha) arrangements in Bhīṣma Parva.
